Sender Films Premiere

Monday, September 28th, 2009

On Saturday, October 10th, Movement will be hosting Sender Films’ World Premiere of First Ascents Episodes 4 & 6. If you didn’t get enough action at the Reel Rock showings at the Boulder Theater this year, then you won’t want to miss this event. With stadium seating already in place, Movement is the perfect place to come watch these world class climbing films that are slated to be shown on the National Geographic television show. The two episodes we will be featuring are…

Episode 4: Brother’s Wild – Timmy O’Neill and his brother Sean, who is paralyzed from the waist down, have a wild adventure in the Ruth Gorge of Alaska.

Episode 6: Fly or Die – Dean Potter explores the dangerous hybrid of free solo climbing and BASE jumping in his new discipline, Free BASE.

This is a FREE event for all of Movement’s members, guests and friends, and will feature a BBQ and a car wash fundraiser for the Movement Junior Team and Thorne Ecological Institute. Details are as follows…

- 12p to 4p: Team Sik Bird is providing a car wash with a suggested donation to Team Sik Bird or Thorne Ecological Institute, Movement’s official non-profit partner.

- 5p: The American Alpine Club, Whole Foods and Upslope are hosting a delicious BBQ!

- 8p: Then the Sender Crew will be here to tell us the insider scoop on the 2 shows when we air them.

We hope to see you here for our first event since opening our doors.

If you haven’t noticed already, we have a button on our website called Redpoint. This little button enables a program that enhances our members’ experience and is only offered in two gyms in the country! ”Redpoint Manager” is a web-based route and boulder tracking tool. On the front end, it can show you how many climbs at a particular grade we have set (like the picture shown), beta on new climbs, and plenty of other cool features. On the back end, the setting crew uses it to track routes, setter quotas and get feedback from the members and guests.

One of the coolest features of Redpoint Manager is that you can “Join” and track your routes from season to season. And seasons are just that: Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter.

After each session you can log in and record the climbs you did, in how many tries, and receive points for your efforts. It will then show you how that compares to the rest of the members.

Redpoint Manager comes to us from the guys at Threshhold, the coolest gym in Sol Cal. We are working together to make Redpoint Manager even better every week, so if you have any suggestions on how we can improve, please send us a note through the Redpoint Manager message center.

Join today and start taking advantage of this dynamic program….
