TEXTURE

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Almost all of the walls have received their first coat of mud and the east side of the bouldering area has received the first coat of final texture. When fully dry, the base color will be a light beige similar to the color of the wood in the picture to the right.  We will also be applying some streaks to the walls to give them contrast. The pictures below give you a visual idea of what the end product will be.

All of the crews are working tirelessly and the psyche is very high. We have been very fortunate in that the weather has not held us up as of yet. We may be in for a rainy summer, but it should not affect us too much in the end. Here is a video to update you on the latest progress. ENJOY

Lighthouse Solar

“We believe there is nothing more important than making the world a better place for our children. We chose our name as a message to the world that the American entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to innovation and quality is still alive and well.” – Lighthouse Solar

Movement Climbing + Fitness and Lighthouse Solar are working together to build one of the most environmentally friendly fitness centers in the country. Lighthouse is currently installing a 100-kilowatt photovoltaic (solar panel) system on the roof of the building. This system, when fully operational, will provide Movement with all of its energy needs. Heating, cooling and hot water will all come from clean and green everyday Colorado sun instead of a coal plant.  We are proud to be working with such a great local company. Here are some images of the current progress and what the system will look like once complete. Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!

70 Degree Ramp

Ramp Renderings

In the back of the gym there is a 70 degree ramp and there are two purposes for its construction. The majority of the time, it will be a steep bouldering wall with the floor rising with the wall. This is done so that when you fall on such a steep angle you do not get injured, since the padding is close to you. The other practical reason the ramp was constructed is so that once the walls are completed, we can get the lifts and other machinery out of the roped climbing arena, which has been dug down 10 feet.

However, at design this was all theory and had yet to be proven that it would actually work. We recently hooked up a lift to a 5000lb wench and lowerd it down the ramp — we were all a bit nervous, to say the least. Curious as to the success of this venture? Watch the video below.
